Spring is notoriously known as the time to reset, declutter, refocus, and so on. I don’t know about everyone else but I definitely need to do some spring cleaning. If we can spring clean our homes maybe we should consider spring cleaning ourselves. Check in with this list and see if it resonates with you.
let it go
- The ego: not that we can or should we completely get rid of the ego it’s important to keep the ego in check. The key to checking in with the ego is honesty. Evaluate how you interact with others and how you speak to your inner-self. The ego usually leaves behind emotional reactions like, the need to be right, feelings of insecurity, feelings of envy and jealousy, that need to impress and outdo, acting out in anger and so forth. Imagine the ego as a tree with lots of branches. We want to cut away the branches that are overgrown, or rotting, and those that could cause damage. The parts we want to clean up are made up of false beliefs like the tree we want to detach ourselves from what could cause damage. Your authentic self is enough!
- Doubt: it’s not uncommon for us to doubt ourselves but listen self doubt will have you stuck put you in panic mode and waste your time. One of the easiest ways to ensure you don’t fall victim to self doubt is not comparing yourself to your family members, friends, colleagues, peers, ect. Keep in mind we are each on a personal journey work towards the things that are for you and make you happy!
- Procrastination: yep I’m going there lol. I get it, we all procrastinate from time to time. According to Psychology Today 20% of people are chronic procrastinators and two of the most common reasons for putting things off are fear of failure and fear of success. Did you know that this type of behavior is internalized and can lead to physical aliments such as insomnia and disturbances in the immune system. This spring let’s clean up chronic avoidance and stop creating distractions in order to avoid tasks. You are equipped with the tools and knowledge to complete your tasks. You’ve got this!
