As an avid traveler I figured I would share my list of 10 essential items that no traveler should be without. These are all based on actual life events 😉
If you’d like more travel tips check out my previous post:
If at all possible get local currency at the currency exchange before you depart you can find exchanges all over most airports. This is important because in several countries that I have visited you are required to pay for your visa in local currency cash no exceptions. I ended up on a wild goose chase in the airport in Egypt searching for an ATM that wasn’t already emptied by tourists. Yeah it was a slight nightmare but a lesson learned.
Rechargeable battery pack
You never know when you’ll have a longer than expected layover, and there’s nothing worse than fighting for an electrical outlet. Bring at least 1 battery pack on your journey. Personally I have 2 at a minimum, what can I say I have a lot of electronics lol.
You’re definitely going to need a universal travel adapter for any of your devices that are dual voltage. PLEASE keep in mind these won’t convert energy voltage for devices that are only 110V (Stateside voltage)
Sky Roam is a portable no contract wifi hotspot. I love mine it has been a life saver. I added this to the list however, a lot of the airports abroad actually have wifi for rent devices now! I can’t speak on the price comparison since I have not rented one. I often solo travel so having internet access gives me the ability to use my iPhone for calls and texts. If you have an international calling plan there’s really not a need for a wifi device.
Copy of your Passport
Just in case you happen to misplace your passport (hey it happens) You definitely want to have a copy kept separate to prove your identity, residency, and citizenship.
It may sound weird but I do not travel without a neck scarf. It has so many uses LOL. I use the big square shaped ones that can open up and act as a blanket if needed. You can use them as head covering, you can shield yourself from unwanted smells (yes smells), and you can use them to protect your face from unwanted germs if you just happen to be sitting next to or near someone who appears to be coughing to the point of no return. These are actual life experiences trust me on this 🙂
I rarely leave the house without headphones so of course if I’m going on a trip I take a pair or two. Preferably un-wired with a wired option.
A Good Book
Listen those airport books are way to expensive for my taste. I travel with my own book sometimes its new and sometimes its one I’ve read and don’t mind reading again 🙂
Personal Hygiene Kit
Travel must have! Long flights and coffee breath are not cute lol. I travel with a small toothbrush & toothpaste, tongue cleaner, feminine wipes, and a couple of feminine products just in case mother nature decides to switch up her usual visit.
Hand Sanitizer / Hand Wipes
This is a no-brainer I travel with both because I tend to run out of the wipes quicker than the bottled hand sanitizer.
