Who among us doesn’t have houseplant fever? I love to see it and I’m excited for those who are entering the world of houseplants and I’m here to help. So I’m sharing a quick cheat sheet a Beginners Guide to bringing a houseplant into your home.
Choosing the Plant
ENVIRONMENT think about the environment you’ll be creating for the plant…a few things to consider are, the light you’ll be able to provide, average temperature in your home, humidity level in your home and or city, and how large the plant can potentially get.
LIFESTYLE consider your lifestyle do you travel often? do you have pets? how much time and energy do you have to put into caring for a plant? Saying yes or no to any of these questions doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring a plant home but they are important things to consider when choosing the right plant for your lifestyle.
Research Care
RESEARCH find out the specific care needs for the plant you selected…some examples are light requirements, watering needs, feeding (fertilizing needs), type of soil medium, humidity needs. Knowing the needs of the plant before you bring it into your space means you can have any items you needs ready and maybe even have a spot picked out for your new plant!
